The Rest of India (ROI) team extended their lead to 275 runs against Madhya Pradesh (MP) at the end of day three of the Irani Cup 2023. The match is being played at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore.
The day began with MP resuming their first innings at the overnight score of 4/0. The MP batsmen put up a good fight and managed to score a total of 246 runs in their first innings. The top scorer for MP was skipper Devendra Bundela who scored a brilliant century. He was ably supported by Ankit Sharma who scored a half-century.
The ROI bowlers were on top of their game and managed to pick up all 10 wickets in the first innings. The pick of the bowlers was left-arm spinner Shahbaz Nadeem who picked up four wickets. He was ably supported by medium-pacer Shardul Thakur who picked up three wickets.
In reply, the ROI team started off their innings on a positive note and managed to score a total of 521 runs in their first innings. The top scorer for ROI was skipper Ajinkya Rahane who scored a brilliant double century. He was ably supported by Shreyas Iyer who scored a century.
The MP bowlers were unable to make any inroads into the ROI batting line-up and were unable to pick up any wickets in the first innings. The pick of the bowlers was left-arm spinner Mihir Hirwani who picked up two wickets.
At the end of day three, the ROI team had extended their lead to 275 runs. The MP team will have to bat out of their skins if they are to save the match.
The fourth day of the match promises to be an exciting one as both teams will be looking to gain the upper hand. The ROI team will be looking to extend their lead and put the match beyond the reach of the MP team. On the other hand, the MP team will be looking to make a comeback and save the match.
