Gurugram: A sacked employee of the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) was arrested on Tuesday for stealing flower pots kept for decoration ahead of the G20 event.

The accused, identified as Rajesh Kumar, was sacked from the GMDA in April this year. He was arrested from his residence in Sector 10A of Gurugram.

According to the police, Kumar had stolen flower pots from the GMDA office in Sector 14. The flower pots were kept for decoration ahead of the G20 event, which is scheduled to be held in Gurugram in November.

The police said that Kumar had stolen the flower pots on the night of October 15. He had loaded the flower pots in a tempo and was about to leave when he was caught by the security guards.

The security guards informed the police and Kumar was arrested. He was booked under Section 379 (theft) of the Indian Penal Code.

The police said that Kumar had been sacked from the GMDA in April this year. He had been working as a driver with the GMDA for the past five years.

The police said that Kumar had stolen the flower pots to sell them in the market. He was planning to make some quick money by selling the flower pots.

The police have recovered the flower pots from Kumar’s possession. They have also seized the tempo in which he was trying to transport the flower pots.

The police said that Kumar had been produced before a court and has been sent to judicial custody.

The G20 event is scheduled to be held in Gurugram in November. The event is expected to be attended by world leaders and dignitaries from across the globe.

The GMDA had been making preparations for the event for the past few months. The flower pots were kept for decoration ahead of the event.

The police said that Kumar’s arrest has sent a strong message to those who are planning to commit such crimes. They said that such incidents will not be tolerated and strict action will be taken against those who are found guilty.
