A married woman and her lover were arrested by the Thane police for running away with Rs 15 lakh worth of gold from her in-laws house. The incident took place in the city’s Wagle Estate area on Sunday.
The woman, identified as Shweta Sharma (30), had been married to a man named Rajesh Sharma for the past five years. According to the police, Shweta had been having an affair with a man named Rajesh Jain (35) for the past few months.
On Sunday, Shweta and Rajesh Jain decided to run away with the gold from her in-laws house. They took the gold and fled the house. However, the in-laws noticed the theft and informed the police.
The police launched a search operation and managed to track down the couple. They were arrested and the gold was recovered from them. The police have registered a case against them under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
