Hekani Jakhalu is the first woman MLA in Nagaland, a state in India. She was elected to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly in 2018, representing the constituency of Peren. She is a member of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP).
Hekani Jakhalu was born in Peren district of Nagaland in 1985. She completed her schooling from St. Joseph’s Convent School, Dimapur and went on to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata. She also holds a Master’s degree in International Relations from the University of Delhi.
